LIV Golf has unveiled the details for its Q-School event scheduled for this December, introducing a significant change to the qualification process, as announced by Greg Norman and his team.
LIV Golf has revealed the details for its upcoming Q-School event this December, introducing a significant change to the qualification process. This year, only one spot on the 2025 roster will be available for competitors at LIV Promotions, a departure from last year’s event, where the top three finishers secured their places on the league.
The qualifying tournament will maintain its format of 72 holes over three days, scheduled from December 12-14, with the final two rounds played on the last day. Last year’s qualifiers included Kalle Samooja, Jinichiro Kozuma, and Kieran Vincent, but this time around, only the winner will earn the coveted promotional spot.
Greg Norman, who may soon be replaced as LIV CEO, commented on the significance of the event, stating that players have consistently praised the league for its energy, camaraderie, and global competition. He emphasized that LIV Golf Promotions offers a vital pathway for aspiring players to pursue their dreams at the highest level.
The eligibility for the event is divided into two categories. Category A focuses on the top amateurs, allowing them to compete from the first round. This includes members of the 2023 Walker Cup and 2024 Palmer Cup Teams, as well as winners and runners-up from prestigious amateur events. Additionally, the top five available players from various international tours, including the Japan Golf Tour and the Korean KPGA, will also receive early entry, with the top three exempt until the second round.
Category B will open the event to players on the second day, featuring winners from both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, as well as the top 30 players from the Order of Merit rankings from these tours and the Korn Ferry Tour. Invitations will also be extended to players who participated in the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup between 2019 and 2024, along with all major champions from that period. Those relegated from LIV or without a contract ahead of the 2025 season will have the opportunity to enter the qualifiers on the second day.
With a total purse of $1.5 million and $200,000 awarded to the winner, the stakes are high for participants eager to make their mark in LIV Golf. The event will take place in Riyadh, and all eyes will be on who rises to the challenge this December.
