It’s time to accept it: Brock Lesnar probably won’t be back in WWE, and honestly, that’s not a bad thing.

Every year, especially as WrestleMania season approaches, rumors swirl about Lesnar’s possible return. Just recently, Randall Ortman from Cageside Seats rounded up some conflicting reports about Lesnar’s next WWE appearance. But fans might be better off dismissing these rumors because today’s WWE simply doesn’t need him anymore. Besides, Lesnar’s association with Vince McMahon’s “part-time star” era feels outdated in the current landscape.

The era of WWE relying on part-time wrestlers for headlining roles often came at the expense of its main roster, a lineup brimming with talent. While some fans still imagine Lesnar in a dream feud with Gunther, does that storyline truly add value? Gunther is already the World Heavyweight Champion, and Raw alone offers plenty of exciting matchups with superstars like CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Add to that younger stars like Bron Breakker who could soon be vying for main event spots.

Lesnar’s “bump” effect, where a match with him elevates an opponent, doesn’t hold the same appeal anymore. His last feud, an oddly positioned rivalry with Cody Rhodes, felt like a filler on the road to WrestleMania, concluding with Lesnar raising Rhodes’ hand in an anticlimactic finish. Before that, his rivalry with Omos was similarly forgettable, despite Lesnar’s reinventions, from “Cowboy Lesnar” to “Boom Box Lesnar.”

Moreover, WWE has reduced its number of Premium Live Events, emphasizing fewer but more meaningful matches and storylines. There’s limited space on the card, and stars like Randy Orton already hold that veteran spot. WWE has also teased a final Goldberg appearance, and John Cena’s retirement tour in 2025 will demand serious attention.

Lesnar is now 47, and WWE wants to avoid a potential misfire like the infamous Undertaker-Goldberg match in Saudi Arabia. Lesnar’s contributions to WWE were significant, but wrestling has shifted into a new era. Fans may just have to accept that we may have already seen Brock Lesnar’s last match in WWE.
