Simone Biles said she was “blocked” from social media after posting vulgar posts on Instagram insulting former Olympic teammates.
After winning gold again in the women’s team all-around at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Biles posted on social media celebrating her victory with Team USA teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and Hesly Rivera. But when Biles posted on Instagram to celebrate her victory, she criticized the American gymnast for missing out on the 2024 Games roster.
It comes after the gymnast in question, Olympic silver medalist MyKayla Skinner, questioned the talent and ethics of the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team. “Aside from Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth isn’t what it used to be,” Skinner said in the now-deleted video.
“The girls don’t have the work ethic,” she added. Skinner quickly recalled the comments by publishing a video with excuses on YouTube, in which she says: “I want to officially apologize to the American team and our gymnastics community for my comments during my recent episodes on YouTube on the Olympic gymnastics tests.
\ “It was not an intention to offend or lack respect for one of the athletes or to withdraw their hard work. \”
But the damage, it seems, were caused when Bilz, when his teammates were returned by his teammates. Biles posted a photo of the five on Instagram, writing, “Lack of talent, laziness, Olympic champion.”
Biles’ husband, NFL Chicago Bears star Jonathan Owens, commented, “Walk and find them.”
She also took to Instagram-run Threads, writing, “Not everyone needs a microphone or a platform.”
Well, Biles was apparently blocked by Skinner on Instagram, and Skinner doesn’t seem to appreciate Biles’ response and attention to her comments.
Teammate Jordan Childs posted a photo of Biles’ cell phone on Skinner’s account, writing, “When she blocked Simone.”
And Biles, on X (formerly Twitter), crossed her eyes, laughed, and added, “Oops, I got blocked.” X boss Elon Musk also got in on the action, responding with crying and laughing emojis.
Skinner’s good working relationship with his former Team USA colleagues took a hit after Skinner won a silver medal on the vault at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In a now-deleted video criticizing Team USA gymnasts, Skinner also blasted the USA Center for SafeSport, a nonprofit organization created to end sexual and emotional abuse against athletes in U.S. Olympic sports.
Skinner said, “It’s hard because of SafeSport.” For example, coaches can’t attack athletes and have to be very careful about what they say.
“Which, in a way, is really good. But at the same time, to achieve what you want in gymnastics, I think you have to be a little aggressive and a little intense.
