Nelly Korda Withdraws from Two LPGA Asian Swing Events Due to Neck Injury

World No. 1 Nelly Korda has withdrawn from the next two tournaments on the LPGA Tour’s Asian swing due to a neck injury sustained during practice. The 26-year-old American golfer announced the news on social media, expressing her disappointment at having to miss the events in South Korea and Malaysia.

Korda, who has had an outstanding season with six victories, including a major win at the Chevron Championship, shared that the injury is minor but will require rest. “I’m currently resting and working with my team to get better,” Korda wrote. She also expressed regret to her fans, especially those looking forward to seeing her play, and thanked them for their continued support.

Korda did not specify when she plans to return to competition, but the Asian swing concludes with the TOTO Japan Classic at the end of October. The LPGA season will finish three weeks later at the CME Group Tour Championship in Florida.

Despite her absence from the upcoming tournaments, Korda still holds a commanding lead of around 1,235 points over Lydia Ko in the season-long Race to the CME Globe standings. Although Korda has yet to win the season-long championship, her stellar performance this year has placed her in prime position to contend when she returns.
