The Cleveland Guardians came up just one series short of a World Series appearance, falling to the New York Yankees in five games in the American League Championship Series after defeating the Detroit Tigers in the AL Division Series.
Looking ahead to 2025, Cleveland sports personality Bruce Drennan has made a bold prediction for the Guardians’ future. Drennan believes this young and talented Guardians roster is primed for a deep postseason run next year, saying, “I can see the Guardians winning the pennant next year.
Not only does Drennan see the Guardians returning to the ALCS, but he predicts they could represent the American League in the 2025 World Series. He points to the youth and long-term contracts of many key players as a foundation for continued success.
The Guardians finished the 2024 season with a 92-69 record, securing their second AL Central title in three years. Drennan has previously mentioned the need for a starting pitcher addition, but otherwise, he believes the team is set to remain highly competitive.
With three AL Central teams making the postseason in 2024, the division promises to be competitive again in 2025. It will be intriguing to see if the Guardians make any offseason moves to bolster their rotation before spring training as they aim to break their World Series drought, which stretches back to 1948.
