Britain’s Charley Hull ended a two-year drought on the Ladies European Tour with an impressive victory at the Aramco Team Series event in Riyadh, marking her first tournament win since October 2022. Hull, who has been a formidable presence on both the LPGA and Ladies European Tours, captured this long-awaited win with a commanding performance in Saudi Arabia.
Starting the final round two shots behind the leader, Hull displayed impressive focus and skill to turn the game in her favor. She delivered a stellar round of 66, finishing 18-under-par for the tournament and securing a comfortable three-shot lead over Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup, her closest challenger. This victory broke a spell of near-misses, as Hull had previously finished as the runner-up six times since her last win in the Volunteers of America Classic in October 2022.
In her final round on Saturday, Hull set the tone with a blazing start, sinking five birdies in her first seven holes. This early advantage allowed her to gain momentum and seize control of the leaderboard. Despite two bogeys on the back nine, Hull’s consistent play kept her firmly in the lead, allowing her to finish the round with three additional birdies and a total of eight birdies for the day.
Reflecting on her performance, Hull expressed satisfaction with her game, especially after a stretch of close finishes. “I felt like my game has been pretty good all season,” Hull shared. “I’ve been knocking on the door quite a lot over the last couple of years, and this week it all came together.”
One of the defining moments in Hull’s final round occurred on the 16th hole, where the setting sun created a challenging play. Hull admitted, “The sun was across the water, and I just couldn’t see and came off my drive a bit. But apart from that, 17 was a really quick putt, and on the last hole, I hit a good drive—maybe a bit too good—into the bunker, but I managed to two-putt to win, so it was pretty good.”
Hull’s win at the Aramco Team Series event showcases her resilience and determination to reclaim her spot among the top players. With this victory, she has reminded the golf world of her potential and the strength of her game. Hull’s long-awaited win not only boosts her confidence but also solidifies her place as one of Britain’s top female golfers, ready to challenge for more titles in the future.
As Hull looks ahead, this victory could signal a turning point, sparking a renewed momentum as she continues to compete on the Ladies European and LPGA Tours. With her form peaking, Hull has positioned herself as a formidable competitor, ready to chase additional titles and continue her ascent in women’s golf.
