Cartier Racing Awards 2024: City Of Troy Named Horse of the Year, Charyn Takes Older Horse Title

The 2024 Cartier Racing Awards celebrated the most exceptional achievements in horse racing, with City Of Troy earning the prestigious Horse of the Year title. The awards, held at London’s Dorchester Hotel, recognized this standout three-year-old for a phenomenal season that included victories in major Group 1 races like the Derby, Coral-Eclipse, and Juddmonte International. Trained by Aidan O’Brien, City Of Troy’s dominance across middle-distance races established him as one of the most formidable horses of his generation, joining an elite club alongside Frankel as a two-time Cartier Award recipient.

In the older horse category, Charyn was celebrated for an outstanding campaign in the mile division. The Roger Varian-trained grey secured victories in top-tier races such as the Queen Anne Stakes, Prix Jacques le Marois, and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. These performances underscored Charyn’s consistency and versatility, marking a standout year among seasoned competitors.

Jessica Harrington, a veteran trainer celebrated for her contributions to both flat and jump racing, was honored with the Cartier/The Daily Telegraph Award of Merit.
