Clemson Tigers Positioning Themselves as Favorites for Top High School Recruit Jordan Young

For the Clemson Tigers, recruiting is crucial. Head coach Dabo Swinney’s limited use of the transfer portal means that securing top high school talent is their main avenue for roster growth each season. Additionally, Clemson discourages committed players from visiting other programs, a stance that can sometimes narrow their recruiting pool as top prospects explore other options.

Despite this, Swinney’s approach has consistently brought top-ranked players to Clemson, with several five-stars currently on the roster. However, the Tigers recently slipped out of the top 20 for the 2025 recruiting class, highlighting a need for impactful additions.

One standout target for Clemson is Jordan Young. Listed at 6 feet, 184 pounds, Young is one of the most versatile athletes in the 2025 class, ranked No. 5 among unassigned-position players and No. 134 overall. Bleacher Report’s Brad Shepard describes Young as a dynamic player, with his greatest potential possibly lying in defense as a ball-hawking safety.

Hailing from Monroe, North Carolina, Young seems likely to remain in the ACC region, with schools like North Carolina State and Florida State competing for him. However, Clemson appears to be the frontrunner. Sam Spiegelman of Rivals.com noted that the Tigers are “trending” as Young’s likely choice.

Young has met with the Clemson staff multiple times—reportedly nine or ten times, according to his conversation with Chad Simmons of On3—and has expressed a strong connection with the program. With his decision expected in early November, Clemson looks well-positioned to secure his commitment.
