Erik ten Hag was let down by four Man Utd players vs Bournemouth before post-match drama

Erik ten Hag’s hopes of squeezing into the Champions League this season took yet another hit after Manchester United’s miserable 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth on Saturday night. After yet another lackluster performance, in which United was lucky to escape loss at the Vitality Stadium, rumors about firing will undoubtedly pick up steam.

While some of Ten Hag’s players were obviously subpar, others did not contribute enough to turn the game into a must-win on the south coast.

Though he isn’t entirely to blame, the Dutchman left his post-match press conference as tensions appeared to be at an all-time high. Four players who let the Dutchman down against Bournemouth are highlighted by Express Sport.

Andre Onana

Andre Onana has been one of United’s better players since the turn of 2024, although the bar has remained low.

The only team in the Premier League facing more shots this season is Luton Town, so the Red Devils goalie has truly earned his pay.

Onana ought to have performed better for both of Bournemouth’s goals this past weekend, even though Ten Hag’s outfield players were at fault for giving time and space.

The low strike from Dominic Solanke went past him even though it wasn’t in the corner. Justin Kluivert’s goal was subsequently met with a near-post beating for the 28-year-old.

Diogo Dalot

This season, Diogo Dalot has proven to be one of Ten Hag’s most reliable players, solidifying his place as United’s starting right-back ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

But on Saturday, he had a forgettable afternoon and failed to provide Willy Kambwala with the necessary backing in his third senior start.

Dalot was positioned too far away from Kambwala for the second Bournemouth goal in particular, giving Justin Kluivert the room and time to score.

He fouled four times and only prevailed in five of his thirteen ground battles.
