“ I regret my decision – Leaving Man united was the greatest mistake of my life because I cried everyday each I remember that” – Former Man united star admits he ‘never really wanted’ to leave, begs Ten Hag for opportunity to comeback after the EURO to help Ten Hag win the league title and win the fans love back

The forward went on to represent Lyon and Barcelona before joining Atletico Madrid last summer for a poultry €3 million fee.

However, despite some decent performances, the Dutchman has announced he will be leaving the Spanish capital after a year under Diego Simeone’s tutelage.

Depay released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) confirming his exit and suggesting there may have been more to the decision than meets the eye.

“Not easy to say how I feel about writing this message because I feel that things could’ve been very different. Maybe it’s better to keep that conversation for another time…” he said.

Depay then expressed his gratitude to everyone connected with the club.

“To Atleti, my teammates, the staff and specially the fans, I wanna thank you for the energy and support I’ve experienced in my time being a Atleti player I keep the good memories close to my heart.
Gracias. Aupa Atleti!” he wrote.

Depay made 53 appearances at Old Trafford, scoring just seven times, eventually being moved on by Jose Mourinho.

The 30-year-old will be hoping to make the Netherlands final 23-man-squad for the upcoming European Championships where he can showcase his talent to potential suitors looking to bolster their attacking numbers for next season.
