Lithler surprised his fans and celebrated the ironic when he won the sixth stage of the collision. But Price was outstanding and deserved to win, and the Welshman took the title in Australia.
Littler’s reputation has risen after a tumultuous year. He made the final of the dart World Cup in January, before winning the Prime Minister for the first time, when he only asked for six months later.
Litter admitted that the price was at a different level during their autopsy in Australia. And he was pretty hard on himself, admitting he was “bad” as a teenager eyeing the New Zealand Darts Masters.
“Fair play to Ghetzi. I couldn’t follow him that far,” the 17-year-old said.
“He didn’t make many mistakes (in the final) and he deserved to win. “There are no excuses.
“I was weak in that final but hopefully I can carry on the form I played in the first two games in New Zealand.”
While it was a tough night for Littler, it was a brilliant night for Price.
The 39-year-old\’s victory in Australia comes after he won June\’s Nordic Darts Masters.
And Price says the win will give him a big confidence boost, especially given how Littler was his opponent. “Luke is probably a great dart, so he probably kicked me,” he said.
“I know I have to play well with each player, but I was only for this match, especially for this young talent. “I haven’t played very well in the last few months but I really wanted to win this time.
“We can all hit nine, 10, 11 or 12 darts but the game is all about confidence and this gives me the confidence I need.”
Littler and Price will not have much time to dwell on the result.
