Lisandro Martinez sends warning to Man Utd starlets Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho

Lisandro Martinez will not let Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho get carried away following their starring roles in Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Manchester City.

The 19-year-old Argentine capitalised on a mistake from City’s defence to open the scoring, before his fellow teen started and finished a stunning back-to-front move to put United two goals up before half-time.

Premier League champions City put the Red Devils under considerable pressure in the second half, pulling a goal back through Jeremy Doku late on, but United clung on to claim FA Cup glory.

Martinez, starting just his 11th game of an injury-ravaged season, was delighted with the impact of United’s two young stars, though warned them to keep their feet on the ground.

For sure, we need to show them the way, how to do it, because it’s difficult for them, for their age, to control – because they become famous and this kind of thing.

‘So it’s really important to show them, to teach them, how to go out in a good way. So now, keep control. Celebrate, but with control.’

Martinez actually had to give Garnacho a little telling off on the pitch at Wembley and stopped his compatriot from kissing the United badge right in front of the City end following his opening goal.
