Lowdown as Manchester United scout ‘very fast’ 18-year-old Brazilian winger who makes the right decisions

Manchester United are looking to South America for potential signings and a new name has emerged.

Since joining Manchester United, Antony has been under intense pressure. This was mostly brought about by the enormous £85 million price the team spent to acquire him in 2022.

If United had purchased him a few years earlier, directly from Brazil, for a little fraction of the cost, might things have turned out slightly differently?

Regardless of the effect on Antony personally, it undoubtedly would have yielded additional revenue that might have been used in other areas to bolster the squad.

This summer, United will be exploring the South American market for possible acquisitions. The club is currently keeping an eye on Gustavo Nunes.

Manchester United has dispatched a scout to observe Gremio winger Gustavo Nunes in action in order to investigate him.

According to Gremio Avalanche, United dispatched a representative to Gremio’s most recent Copa Libertadores match against Huachipato to inquire on the player’s status.

After his team lost 2-0 to their Chilean opponents at halftime, Nunes was substituted in for the start of the match.

Who is Gustavo Nunes

After making his debut earlier this year, 18-year-old Gustavo Nunes has just lately established himself on the Gremio first squad.

In a recent 5-1 victory over Santa Cruz in the Campeonato Gaucho tournament, he scored his first goal for the team.

Nunes just signed a new contract with Gremio that includes a wage raise to reflect his ascension to the first squad, and his contract is valid until 2028.

Brazilian journalist Filipe Guedes, of Futbol Mundotells United In Focus: “Gustavo Cunha is a left-winger that became professional for Gremio on this year. He did great in Copinha, two assists and two goals, our main Youth Championship.

“On Gremio’s first team, quickly he became a regular starter on the Regional Championship. He is a fast and good dribbler.

“Also, he isn’t a greedy player, always looking for other partners that have better conditions to shoot, which is impressive, because most of young wingers usually take many wrong decisions on pitch. Reports suggests that he is already being watched by Dorival, Brazil’s coach.”

Nunes began his career in Futsal, and hails from the same region of Brazil as Neymar, who started off his football journey in the same way.

His former youth coach Marco Alves told Brazilian outlet GZH: “He was always very fast, very agile in changing direction. Seeing him acting now is not a surprise, it just validates what we saw here.”
