Man United ‘planning to sell’ struggling 24-year-old this summer, with replacement already identified: report

Man United are still looking to move away from winger Antony this summer, with a replacement already eyed.

The Manchester United locker room is changing significantly. Everything begins with the management. Is Erik ten Hag coming back here in the summer? With recent performances and results, it seems less and less likely.

Nevertheless, with INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe hoping to get off to a quick start, preparations for the transfer window must continue.

The most recent intel suggests that Antony’s head may be in danger.

Rudy Galetti here with the narrative. He confirmed on X that United is only “planning to sell” the struggling 24-year-old for a “reasonable” price this summer.

United is attempting to “maximise” the sale in order to reduce his £6 million annual wage. His agreement expires in 2027.

Galetti also provided information on a potential replacement, with Michael Olise already identified as a player who is ‘top of the list’. The Englishman is not the only option, with other wingers being ‘monitored’.

After a somewhat strong rookie season, Antony has been pretty awful this year. The Brazilian’s chances of prospering here in Manchester have been hampered by off-field problems.

The issue here was that, because of the hefty transfer fee, Antony was constantly under pressure. It’s difficult to function in these conditions. This payment was excessive. That is now known to us.

It will be challenging to move on from Antony as well, especially if United wants to pay a fair price for the former Ajax player. Simply put, I don’t see any elite teams wanting to pursue the Brazil international.

As for Olise, this would be a definite upgrade if United could pull it off. That said, he’s had injury issues and the last thing this squad needs is another injury prone player…
