Manchester City midfielder Jill Roord continued her remarkable comeback from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, netting two goals in the Netherlands’ stunning 15-0 friendly victory over Indonesia.
This match marked a historic win for the Dutch national team, surpassing their previous record of 12-0, achieved on three occasions. The Indonesian squad, ranked 93 places lower in FIFA’s standings, faced a formidable opponent in the Netherlands.
Roord made her competitive return to Manchester City in September, helping her team secure a 1-0 win against Brighton in the Women’s Super League just eight months after her injury. She also scored her first goal of the season during Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa, showcasing her impressive form as she stepped back onto the international stage.
In addition to Roord’s contributions, PSV’s Renate Jansen came off the bench to score a remarkable hat-trick in just 15 minutes, while her teammate Nina Nijstad found the back of the net twice in the second half. Ajax forward Lotte Keukelaar also added two goals, sandwiching Romee Leuchter’s pair of strikes around half-time. The Dutch team’s performance highlighted their dominance and set a new benchmark in international women’s football.
