Mason Greenwood sees penalty SAVED by Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Unai Simon as Man Utd loanee fails to spark Getafe comeback against nine men

Manchester United loanee Greenwood was handed a perfect chance to pull a goal back for Getafe against nine men when a penalty was awarded in the 88th minute. However, he saw his spot-kick saved by Unai Simon, and Bilbao were able to see out a 2-0 win.

Bilbao had taken the 2-0 lead through a brace from Inaki Williams. However, in the second half, both Yeray Alvarez and Aitor Paredes were sent off, leaving them to finish the game with nine men. A goal from Greenwood would have sparked a grandstand finish but Simon’s heroic stop proved vital.

Greenwood has been linked with a move to Juventus after a fine season in Spain, in which he has posted a personal best in terms of league goal contributions. His miss on Friday, though, will undoubtedly come as a blow.
