‘One of the best’ players in the world in his position dreams of Manchester United move

Manchester United have a very busy summer ahead of them as the club’s hierarchy looks to turn the Red Devils into a top club once again.

Erik ten Hag’s charges have endured a very difficult season and cannot finish highest than sixth this term.

Manchester United‘s defence could certainly do with overhauling, as it hasn’t been in particularly good form this term.

According to a report out of Italy, one of the Red Devils’ targets at the back is now dreaming of a switch to Old Trafford.

The player in question is Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, a player who Manchester United boss Ten Hag admires, according to Dean Jones.

Now, a report from Tuttosport – via L’Interista – claims the 28-year-old is eager to link up with the Red Devils amid continuing uncertainty over his future.

The report claims Inter are now going to concentrate on contract renewals regarding some of their key coaching and playing assets.

Those of Simone Inzaghi and Nicolo Barella are said to be a formality, while a contract renewal for Lautaro Martinez isn’t far off either.

However, the ‘situation is different’ regarding Dumfries, with his camp and the Nerazzurri remaining distant on a resolution.

The Nerazzurri are apparently willing to sell for €30-35million (£26-30million) amid interest from the Premier League.

Manchester United could do with improving their whole squad this summer.

When it comes to targets, they could do worse than bringing in someone a talented, experienced right-back in his prime like Dumfries.

Bayer Leverkusen and Netherlands ace Jeremie Frimpong has spoken very highly of the reported Man United target in the past.

“I will play wherever the coach wants, both with Leverkusen and the Dutch national team whenever I get the chance,” he told Ziggo Sport, via FcInterNews, in February.

“This is what every footballer wants. However, I’m aware of the strong competition in the national team.

“I knew it would be difficult for me, because Denzel Dumfries is one of the best right-backs in the world.”

Even though Man United have more pressing issues in the squad which they need to address, such as centre-back, Dumfries’ price tag makes him an opportunity they shouldn’t miss out on
