Bristol Rovers were unfortunate not to leave Reading with a result after a valiant response to setbacks, including going down to 10 men. Shaq Forde was sent off, and shortly after, Sam Smith scored the only goal in a hard-fought match at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Both teams delivered an entertaining first half, with Ruel Sotiriou having Rovers’ best chance, while Josh Griffiths pulled off a superb save to deny Harvey Knibbs late in the half. In the second half, Forde received a second yellow for kicking the ball away after a foul, following an earlier booking for dragging down an opponent.
Just after Forde’s dismissal, Smith slipped in the decisive goal. Despite the setbacks, Rovers showed remarkable resilience, with Clinton Mola, Taylor Moore, and Bryant Bilongo coming close to leveling the score.
