RAPID INTEREST IN DELISTED BLUE
Ex-Carlton midfielder Jack Carroll has attracted attention from multiple AFL clubs just a day after his departure from Ikon Park.
According to The West Australian, Fremantle, GWS, and West Coast are all showing interest in the 21-year-old, who played 15 games this season, seven of which were as the substitute.
Carroll, drafted by Carlton with Pick 41 in the 2020 AFL Draft, made his debut in 2022 against North Melbourne, impressing with 19 disposals, eight marks, and a goal. He featured in five games that season but managed only one the following year.
Despite being a regular part of Carlton’s best 23 this season, the club chose not to renew his contract. Carroll was delisted alongside teammates Sam Durdin and Matt Carroll on Tuesday. Interestingly, Carroll was not offered a chance to train with Carlton during the pre-season, unlike Durdin and Matt Carroll.
“Jack leaves the football club with lifelong friendships, which is a testament to the positive contribution he made during his four seasons with us, and we wish him well for the next opportunity in his career,” said Carlton’s Head of List Management, Nick Austin.
CULLEY HOPEFUL FOR AFL RETURN
Former West Coast midfielder Jai Culley is staying positive about securing a second AFL lifeline, just days after his release from the Eagles.
Culley was one of three players delisted by West Coast last Friday, alongside Alex Witherden and Coby Burgiel. Defender Josh Rotham was also let go earlier this week.
In an interview with SEN WA, Culley expressed optimism, revealing that his manager had engaged in promising talks with other clubs.
“My manager Tim Hazell has had a few positive chats, so hopefully things go my way, and I land at a new home,” said Culley.
Despite a tough run, including an ACL injury in Round 8 last season shortly after receiving a Rising Star nomination, Culley is confident he has plenty of good football ahead.
“Since doing my knee, I’ve been progressing really well through the rehab period and did everything I could to get back as quickly as possible,” he added. “Unfortunately, this season didn’t go as planned, leading to the recent decision.”
Culley played 12 games in his two and a half years at West Coast after being picked up with Pick 1 in the 2022 Mid-Season Draft.
