Manchester United is striving to recover from a challenging 2024-25 season, demonstrating signs of improvement as they approach the critical phase of the campaign.

They have remained unbeaten in their last four Premier League fixtures, a streak that has propelled them to 13th position in the standings.

Additionally, they have advanced to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals by overcoming Real Sociedad, thereby maintaining their hopes for Champions League qualification.

Below are three players who have made significant contributions in recent weeks under the guidance of head coach Ruben Amorim.

Joshua Zirkzee

The 23-year-old joined Old Trafford as a centre-forward; however, Amorim has revealed a new dimension to his game by utilizing him in the number 10 role.

Following the disappointment of being substituted early in a match against Newcastle United a few months back, Zirkzee has dramatically transformed his performance.

Now filled with confidence, he showcases impressive close control and seamless dribbling skills.

His ability to connect with teammates has been remarkable, contributing to a more fluid and cohesive United attack.

With each week that goes by, he appears to be becoming increasingly sharper, which is a very promising indication for what lies ahead.

Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes continues to be the driving force behind this United squad, propelling them forward even during their most challenging times.

Without his moments of brilliance, the Red Devils would find themselves in a significantly worse position.

Similar to Zirkzee, Amorim has utilized Fernandes in a different role.

The Portuguese star has taken on a deeper midfield position, infusing the team with creativity and vigor.

This midfield virtuoso has not only thrived in offensive play but has also made vital defensive contributions.

In 44 matches, he has amassed an impressive tally of 16 goals and 15 assists, reaffirming his status as United’s most pivotal player.

While critics have raised concerns about his consistency, Fernandes has repeatedly silenced them through his outstanding performances on the field.

Matthijs de Ligt

His tenures at Juventus and Bayern Munich were not particularly impressive, prompting some to consider his acquisition a gamble.

Nevertheless, following a gradual adjustment period at Old Trafford, the Dutch international has markedly improved his performance.

With Lisandro Martinez sidelined for the remainder of the season, De Ligt has stepped into a leadership position in defense, a role in which he excelled during his time at Ajax.

A vital characteristic for any athlete is reliability, and De Ligt has demonstrated this by missing only one match all season due to illness.

His dedication, physical condition, and defensive strength are now evident, confirming that he possesses the qualities necessary to solidify United’s defense.
