VIDEO: ‘I’ve had about eight pints!’ – Boozed-up Jamie Carragher attempts to interview Jadon Sancho after Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League victory over PSG – leaving Thierry Henry in stitches

After Dortmund beat PSG 1-0 in the Champions League semi-final first leg, Carragher emerged from the Yellow Wall to conduct post-match interviews for CBS Sports. He revealed that he had been drinking – claiming he had guzzled eight pints – as a way to explain his “slurring” before speaking to the Manchester United loanee, who enjoyed a stunning man-of-the-match performance. He even posted a video mid-match of the celebrations of Niclas Fullkrug’s winning goal.

Asked by presenter Kate Abdo if he was sober enough to conduct the interview, Carragher replied: “That’s actually a good point because I haven’t had too much to eat. I had a cheeseburger at about half two, when I got to the hotel. It might explain why I might be slurring my words! I’ve had about eight pints in the Yellow Wall, I’ve got a new family, a new family of friends, we all look after each other. I gave them a few bob after half-time!”

Carragher then beckoned Sancho over to be interviewed by himself and fellow pundit Peter Schmeichel, prompting howls of laughter from Thierry Henry in the studio.

Carragher said: “I’ve just been in the Yellow Wall, my first experience of it, you know it very well. You’ve been there before. That was one of the best experiences of my life, amazing!”

Carragher even ended the interview by asking Sancho to have a few beers with him if Dortmund lifted the trophy, to which the winger revealed, in deadpan fashion: “I don’t drink.”

Dortmund take a slender lead into next week’s second leg in Paris thanks to Fullkrug’s strike. A draw or victory would see the Bundesliga side book their ticket for the Champions League final
