Video: Pep Guardiola argues with the referee after FA Cup final defeat

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola voiced his anger towards the officials following his side’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final.

It was a fantastic evening at Wembley for anyone in Red as United deserved the win.

Teenage duo Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo made it 2-0 in the first half, while Jeremy Doku made it 2-1 to make for a nervy ending in the season finale.

However, Guardiola was seen at full-time trying to distract away from his team’s performance on the day.

The Spanish manager was spotted engaging in a heated discussion with officials after the final whistle.

City had two penalty shouts throughout the game, but none of the calls were deemed controversial after being denied. The first incident occurred early in the first half when Erling Haaland went down following a slight brush from Lisandro Martinez.

Guardiola told reporters after the match that he believes the better team lost.

Reflecting on the match, he told BBC Sport: “We lost the game. Congratulations to United. It was a tight game.

“It can happen. Many things. At the end they scored two games and we couldn’t score more.”
