Stefon Diggs Injury Update vs. Colts: Texans WR Status

The Houston Texans will be without Stefon Diggs for the rest of Sunday’s divisional game against the Indianapolis Colts, and his return remains uncertain pending further evaluation.

Diggs exited in the third quarter after sustaining a knee injury on a non-contact play, immediately receiving medical attention. Trainers assisted him off the field, and he was taken to the locker room for further assessment.

Diggs Injury Details

Diggs, who has stepped in as the Texans’ primary target with Nico Collins sidelined, was injured while trying to break free on a route against Colts cornerback Kenny Moore. After an extended evaluation on the field, he was officially ruled out for the rest of the game due to a knee injury—the same knee he previously injured in 2016 and 2021.

Potential Timeline for Diggs’ Return

With a short turnaround before the Texans’ next game on Thursday Night Football against the New York Jets, it’s doubtful Diggs will be ready to play. Further testing will determine if the injury is a torn ACL or a sprain, leaving the rest of his season in question.

Stefon Diggs’ Season Stats

Acquired by the Texans from the Buffalo Bills this offseason, Diggs has quickly become C.J. Stroud’s primary target with Collins out. In seven games, Diggs has logged 42 receptions for 415 yards and three touchdowns, along with two rushes for 12 yards and a rushing touchdown. Before leaving Sunday’s game, he led the team with five catches for 81 yards.

Texans WR Depth Chart

With both Diggs and Collins sidelined, the Texans are now down to three active receivers. Tank Dell, who scored in the second quarter, will likely serve as the top option, with Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie III also available. Tight ends Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover may also see an increased role.
